Non-Profit Audience Training

Duthie Learning created this interactive guide on behalf of Tennessee Emergency Medical Services for Children. Its goal is to teach families how to prepare against potential disasters. Since the intended audience is the general public, the tone of the program needed to be engaging and entertaining while maintaining the authoritative presence and content characteristic of Duthie's corporate training courses.

The training is freely available to the public at this link, consistent with the organization's purpose.

 

Customer Supervisor Training

U.C. Consultants helps their clients control unemployment insurance costs. A major part of this effort consists of training their clients' managers and supervisors how to hire and terminate workers properly.

Because the training is now available as a web-based course, U.C. Consultants can bring their clients' managers and supervisors up to speed far more quickly than in the past, but without running up travel budgets. Better yet, learners who can't make it to classroom-based training can now take the training on their own schedule. The net result is that U.C. Consultants' clients save even more on avoidable unemployment costs.

Duthie Learning also developed an interactive sales presentation used by U.C. Consultants to "train" their prospective customers about how they can reduce unemployment insurance costs.

 

Customer Employee Training

One of Ecolab's many products is a germicide used in the milking process. To build their customer relationships with dairy farmers and milkers, Ecolab provides training on how to increase milk quality and productivity, thus improving the farms' profits. Duthie Learning created a leader-led training presentation that is used both for the owners and workers of dairy farms.

 

Customer Training

Capital Confirmation offers a unique online service to public accounting firms that enables auditors to efficiently confirm clients' asset and debt balances and reduces their exposure to fraudulent responses. A significant upgrade was made to the CONFIRM™ service necessitating new training for their existing customers while at the same time Capital Confirmation’s rapid growth required the company to pursue a self-study, online training tool for new firms. Duthie Learning developed a training simulator of the CONFIRM™ service covering "the basics" for new users which simultaneously allowed existing users to save time by skipping quickly to the new material. The program frees up Capital Confirmation’s customer support staff from the face-to-face training of new users providing more time for helping clients solve more difficult problems.

 

Customer Training

Caterpillar Financial sells financing for Caterpillar equipment worldwide. Cat Financial's direct customers are Cat equipment owners, who in turn arrange financing through Cat dealers. By training their dealers about the financial products and how to sell them, Cat Financial is able to maintain a very high market share against competing financing companies. An interactive, leader-led customer training presentation was developed by Duthie Learning to train specialists in the Caterpillar Financial worldwide dealer network. Tanner Corporate Services worked in parallel to develop the printed instructor and student guides for the training.

 

Sales Training

A Six Sigma project at Caterpillar Financial identified an underserved market. Duthie Learning designed self-paced, CD-ROM-based training showing sales reps how to pursue prospects in that market, and also how to close deals using available web-based applications.

 

The Japan-America Society of Tennessee asked Duthie Learning to develop this course that profiles the close ties between Japan and Tennessee. During the course, the user learns about Japanese food and what Japanese businesses are found in Tennessee. A short demonstration of the course is available here. Computer Systems Training

The U.S. Military Health System has developed specialized systems to track its costs and personnel. Duthie Learning, working with Oracle and HealthStream, developed self-paced system simulations that teach administrators how to operate these tools, reducing the need for live instructors to fund travel to and from classroom sites or live instructors.

Rather than just jumping immediately into the mechanics of each system, each training series begins with a broad overview of the military health system’s needs and the processes enabled by the software on which the administrators are to be trained. Whey they understand the importance of their roles within the overall system, the administrators are more motivated to master the software and procedures in question.

The CCQAS Training series is available for demonstration. The Authorware Web Player is required to view the course; it will install automatically on most Windows computers.

 

Orientation Training

Corrections Corporation of America (CCA), the founder of the private corrections industry, needed a cost-effective and efficient means of training 15,000 employees in over seventy locations, including a large influx of new hires. They elected to reduce travel and training costs by providing much of the training in a self-paced format on their corporate intranet, accessible to employees working different shifts. All activity on the intranet is tracked and reported to a central learning management system (LMS) at corporate headquarters for documentation and compliance purposes.

 

Duthie Learning developed this unique CD-ROM designed to show boaters what it is like to circumnavigate eastern North America by water. This 5,600 mile voyage is known as the Great Loop. The CD allows the viewer to experience a large part of the US and Canada the way the early explorers saw the county. The CD-ROM contains 2,190 photographs, 210 maps and more than 6 hours of narration. The same CD-ROM works with both Macintosh and Windows computers.

The CD-ROM format was chosen as most cruising boaters travel with a laptop computer but don’t have broadband access to the Internet.  Interactive features include access to 12 legs and 56 segments, book marking, search, and note taking. Duthie Learning has also developed the e-commerce website www.greatloopcruising.com that is being used to help market the program.

 

Fund-raising Presentation

Nashville Public Television (NPT), having benefited from a brief presentation created by Duthie Learning to help them obtain government support, determined that they were ready to spend more effort seeking corporate sponsorship to fund the operation and future health of the station.

Keeping in mind that every potential sponsor is different, Duthie Learning created a interactive presentation packed with information about NPT's viewer demographics, competing media, programming, and more. The members of NPT's development staff tailor the presentation to match the interests of each potential sponsor, focusing on the elements most likely to appeal to the decision makers’ specific interests.

In effect, the development staff trains their prospective sponsors about Npt's reach and the effectiveness of public television sponsorship.
